23 week update...yes, already

How far along: debateable...according the the doctor visit this morning, i'm 24 weeks today. so i'll update the 23 week info now and maybe i can stay on track with the NEW, UPDATED, due date of July 16. Sounds good to me.

Weight Gained: According the doctor's scale today, I'm up 11 pounds. Not too bad, I don't think.

Cravings: Jimmy John's. Still have not indulged...it's kind of a long drive for a sandwich...why can't they put one out here. People would love it, Jimmy, trust me!

Clothing: Maternity mostly, and since it's spring break, sweats and PJs make up a large proportion of my wardrobe.

Sleeping: the same. stinky. and last night i had cracked out dreams that i had been married before Jeremy and it was all news to me and there were all these documents I had signed, but I had signed them all with my current married name. weird.

Boy or girl: I'm still saying boy.

Movement: Oh, baby is a karate superstar in there. Kicked the doppler machine when the nurse was trying to get the heartbeat this morning. Pretty funny.

What I miss: Being able to sleep on command.

Best moment this week: Jeremy and his baby-bonding moments. I'm not sure how I feel about him yelling at my belly at night, but it's funny. "HELLO BABY!" "WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN THERE BABY?" "HOW WAS YOUR DAY BABY?" and then he's all sweet and tones it down for "I love you, Baby." awwwww....swoon....

Milestones: The big due date bump-up is kind of a big deal. I'm pretty happy about it. The sooner the better--I want to meet this little person! AND enjoy summer with him/her. AND not be hot and uncomfortable for a super long time.

In non-baby news: We are officially HILLBILLIES. Jeremy cut a really large (frozen) pork loin in half with a miter box saw. So today I am going to cut it into chops and marinate it for our small group cookout. I am using a KNIFE because it's thawed out now. Pretty funny, cutting meat with power tools. I tell you...we definitely live in Indiana. Where people applaud you for that sort of thing.

pictures!

Yay! Apparently Blogger has now eaten enough of my posts and is fat and happy enough to let me get things on here. I have pictures that go with last week's post...I give you the belly! Though I ask do ask you to please excuse the hair and tired face...blaacccchhh...not looking so fly...I suppose this could explain why people just think I might have "let myself go"...

And here is the fabric I picked out to make the bedding and curtains for the baby's room:

I love it! The little kids having a pillowfight is for a fitted sheet and part of the curtains. The dots are for the dust ruffle and one side of the bumpers. The checks are for the other side of the bumpers and for part of the curtains. The letters and the bunny toile are going to be used, along with scraps of the other stuff, for a quilt and maybe some pillows. I think it will look so pretty with white furniture and some touches of pink if we have a little girl troll and touches of blue if we have a little boy troll. :)

22 weeks...after the fact...

How far along: well, further than this post implies...blogger ATE my last post, after I typed it all out...so this is all about week 23...

Weight Gained: Don't know right now. Probably around 9 or 10.

Cravings: Jimmy John's. And iced white mochas.

Clothing: Still can button some of my pants, though I'm wearing more maternity stuff now. Picked up a few things over the weekend to expand my wardrobe a bit...

Sleeping: Sigh...my days of sleeping like the dead are apparently over, at least for now. I wake up a lot, either to pee or to just LAY THERE awake. BOO! I guess we can call this "the warm up", yes? I take a lot of naps, which is lame, but you gotta do what keeps you sane and somewhat human-ish.

Boy or girl: Hmmm...today I say boy. Ask me tomorrow, though...

Movement: Ok, so the last time I updated, I said things had sort of chilled out...ummmm I spoke too soon. Maybe Baby just had a slow week...all that growing or something to do. NOW Baby apparently thinks it is great fun to throw its weight around and do calisthenics on my bladder and belly button! Jeremy's getting to feel more of the kicks/jabs/kung fu moves now, so that's fun.

What I miss: Still the coaching. And the sleeping.

Looking forward to: Getting the room ready for the baby. Went to Shipshewana, found lots of fun fabric for other things, but not a baby's room for which you are trying to stay gender-neutral. I did order stuff online today, finally, so I'll get started on the bedding and curtains one of these days...

Best moment this week: It was rather comical to me when Jeremy discovered all the sneaky plans he had made for the "Babymoon" had been made for the WRONG DATES! Oops! he planned/reserved/booked tickets for a week LATER than what he wanted to. Silly man. LUCKILY, it all works out because he will be on break, and I have Good Friday off, so we can still leave on Thursday afternoon.

Milestones: This is a question that forces me to think of something charged with meaning every week. That is hard. So that probably means I should keep this on here! :) I guess it was fun to run into someone I hadn't seen in quite a while, and she asked if I was pregnant. She seemed like she didn't want to come right out (the old is-she-or-is-she-just-packing-it-on dilemma) but I'm glad she asked so I can have something to write on here.

In non-baby news: Nothing destructive this week! I'm on spring break and the weather is great, so all is well. Went to Shipshewana, which always inspires me to do something domestic. The first time I went, I came home and made a quilt. This time, I came home and made snickerdoodles. Not quite as ambitious this time, but the bakery that I usually get them from was closed, and Jeremy loves those cookies. I'm happy to report that my version turned out pretty darn close--however, I did stray from making them exactly the same because I did NOT make them the size of hamburgers.

21 weeks...over the hump...

How far along: 21 weeks, approaching the end of week 22...

Weight gained: Don't know!

Cravings: Rare steak...mmmmmmeat! And (separately) ham and beans. Made up a pot on Monday. Yum! and fibrous!

Clothing: Still can button some of my pants, and still struggling w/ maternity clothes staying up. Shopping is planned for tomorrow to remedy this situation. I'm also thinking I may sew up a couple of cute drawstring skirts for the nice weather! I do have quite the belly bulge...pictures coming. They're at home.

Sleeping: Jeremy says I still snore and toss and turn...I think it's starting to affect the quality of my sleep...I feel kind of spacey a lot lately. Like more spacey than normal. Ha!

Boy or girl: I really can't rule one or the other out. The H-fam all thinks it's going to be a girl. One of Jeremy's aunts (who is a nurse) felt me up last night and assesses the bump to be up high and GIRL...we shall see!

Movement: Not as much craziness...maybe baby is getting bigger? Don't know. I get some good thumps on my bladder, though, that make me cringe, esp. while driving! So--less movement, but BIGGER movement.

What I miss: Coaching track. Conditioning has started and I feel like I'm missing out! It doesn't help that the kids all give me a hard time--I guess that makes me feel good, sort of, that they miss me...but right now I feel like I could do it...however by May, I'm sure I'll be glad about my choice.

Looking forward to: Spring Break--going to Shipshewana to look at fabric and hopefully get some stuff rolling for the baby's room. Maybe I'll paint the rocking chair if the weather is nice...

Best moment this week: Jeremy surprising me with "Babymoon" plans! Nothing big, a trip to a neighboring city. But it will be nice to get away and just focus on us. And be a little selfish while we still can.

Milestones: Last no-baby birthday this week! It was a really nice day. :) Lots of good wishes and phone calls and present and a visit from Gpa Leo.

In non-baby news: I broke a drawer in my desk here at school a couple of hours ago. Pretty funny--I pulled it out, the bottom of the drawer FELL OUT and all the crap went on the floor. The kids liked that one!

20 weeks

How far along: 20 weeks, some days (actually, I'm 21 weeks now, but this update didn't happen until now...)
Weight gained: Still right around 8, depending on the time of day.
Cravings: Anything made out of potatoes...bake them, fry them, shred them, whatever...
Clothing: Still in regular clothes for the most part, though I wish maternity pants would stay up, OR I could just get away with wearing sweats everywhere. But I still actually have pants that I can button (though not very many anymore
Sleeping: I think it's fine, but Jeremy informs me that I have taken up snoring like it's my job. That, and I guess I bug him by tossing and turning a lot. It's all news to me!
Boy or girl: I honestly have no idea.
Movement: Still a very busy baby. I think he/she is building a little city in there. There is a lot going on!!
What I miss: Ok, so is it bad that I put some sort of alcoholic beverage on here every week? I'm just being honest...we had people over and made fajitas last night. It was a gorgeous day, it was warm(ish) and sunny, so it was perfect food...but everyone else was enjoying beer...and I was not...it would have been so tasty!
Looking forward to: Wearing clothes that are a little more comfortable.
Best moment this week: Jeremy felt the baby kick! He had been playing along very nicely, patiently putting his hand on my belly and never feeling anything, but last night, he felt a little thump, didn't believe that was the baby, then got a BIG one, and said "NO WAY!" He kept hoping for another good one, but then baby started kicking my bladder instead...alas.
This week, I also finished up a little project--I knitted a little cotton bolero sweater, maybe for bringing the little bundle home! Here's a picture of it, and a picture of the detail on the back. The little symbol is supposed to be good luck. I don't take much stock in luck, but it's cute at least!
Milestones: I've crossed the half-way mark!!! Woot woot! Now, there was actually no baby for the first 2 weeks (silly pregnancy dates...the way they do that is kind of weird) and for the first 5 weeks or so, I didn't even know I was pregnant...BUT halfway to 40 nonetheless! The 15 or so weeks that I've been aware of little Cletus have gone pretty quickly, though. 15 more and I'll be 35 weeks, it will be SUMMER and school will be out! Bring it.
In non-baby news: It's supposed to be warm(ish) all week and I'm pumped. It's in the 50s right now and sunny. I took a 3 mile walk earlier today and just really enjoyed getting out, shaking the winter "buh". Can't complain, especially since someone amazing has a birthday this week. La la!

19 weeks and counting....

How far along: 19 weeks, several days

Weight gained: I'm going to be vulnerable...and tell the truth...8 pounds...doc and nurse didn't seem to think that was a lot, but it sounds like a lot. Although I'm sure that I have gained 1 pound in each of my breasts...so really 6 pounds??? Not too bad for being halfway there!

Cravings: A hamburger, done on the grill, on a whole wheat bun with lots of tomato and lettuce. I have very specific food fantasies...this particular craving led to one of our funnier fights...I'm not going to write it all out here, but it wound up good--we had a good talk.

Clothing: Well, starting to grow out of some of my regular pants, which is frustrating, because maternity pants don't stay up. Wearing the ones that fit over and over and over...and a couple pairs that don't fit, unbuttoned, with long shirts and a belly band.

Sleeping: Just fine. Though it seems I can't get enough!

Boy or girl: Hard to say this week. We've started calling it "he"...for no real reason. Although the way baby is scooting around in there, it seems very boy-like!

Movement: BUSY BUSY BABY! Just doesn't stop. I don't notice as much when I'm standing up or moving around, but as soon as I'm sitting or laying down, look out, it's a party in there! Baby even did a couple of full sommersaults during the ultrasound. I can feel it from the outside, though Jeremy has yet to feel it. It seems baby likes to play the "stop moving when Daddy shows up" game.

What I miss: My digestive system, the way it used to be....when I didn't leave work for lack-of-fiber complications...

Looking forward to: Jeremy feeling the baby move.

Best moment this week: Seeing the baby on the ultrasound! So great! And coming home to a great "Happy Ultrasound" present!! This was in the kitchen (sneaky husband!):
I felt very loved! Exactly the jogger I'd been pining for! Look out baby, momma's gonna take you for a ride! Jeremy is such a good gift giver...and I really like gifts, so that works out well for me. :)

Milestones: Obviously the ultrasound! Although I wasn't particularly anxious about anything, it was a relief, somehow, to know that everything is developing just fine. Baby is 14 ounces right now...what a porker! This is my favorite picture:
I didn't think we were going to have any of the funky 4D pictures (lovely insurance), but the ultrasound tech whipped out this $30,000 piece of equipment, rubbed it on my belly, and voila, you can see baby flexing for you! It's hard to tell who the little critter looks like at this point, although the baldness hints at a particular husband of mine...
and a regular ultrasound picture--I love how you can see every finger in that hand! Baby appears to be doing the "I've got your nose" trick...only the most annoying thing EVER...we'll need to stop that right away...that and the thumb-sucking! We got to catch little baby in the act!

In non-baby news: Still have yet to work a full week....for the past 4, I think! But I must say I'm glad that Frantic February is over...as much as I hate to admit it, I do so much better when I'm on some sort of schedule! Went to the home and garden show yesterday, more for the garden part, really. I am soooo ready for spring and summer. We (well, mostly Jeremy) are getting peppers and tomatoes going in our "growing closet"--a closet rigged up with lights and heat lamps and a fan. I got some herbs potted up and I'm going to try and grow a miniature olive tree--bought the seed at the garden show last night. The planting bug has hit...woohoo!
